New Design - Early Stages

The evolving plan designates areas of permeation through the outer skin and containment of elements beneficial to the waterfront surroundings. Protection against the natural external elements, such as the wind and the sun, is essential to this particular location. the ease of permeability caused by pedestrian traffic allows them to access the buildings from all sides of the structure.
From here, is the further refinement of the allocation of designated areas and spaces .......

New Design - Early Stages

Development of design and functions of the different areas. Since my building is designated as a student gallery, the top left of the design is occupied by the raw production area. The area in which visitors could explore the processes of the production of mulit-media with student help in allowing the visitor learning such processes. This area of refinement is continued to the front of the structure where refined pieces of works are displayed to the public at the base level, and a private showing on the upper level. Heading towards the top right of the building, presents the finished and final product of multi-media design and shown either within the cinema or the auditorium. The main objective of the student gallery is to present and educate the multi-media design process to the viewer in its entirety from beginning through to the end finished product.

New Design - Precedence

These precedences were gathered from the "Detail" 2006 magazine. These were essential in my understanding of organised plans, the way of priortising a structured plan, and the manipulation of external factors to benefit what you want drawn out internally from your design. The way light behaves in a manner to effect a person's experience/activity/mood within a space.
These proved beneficial in my journey towards resolving my final design ......

Revised Masterplan

After the first group submission on masterplan, we revised it and finally came up with a sound design that gave advantage to all of us.

Chronicles of my structural model

Condolescence to my structural model, the most honest model to represent my work in its skeleton form, without any fabrication on it.
Condolescence because this model was never to be found again after leaving it at the barn, searched hi and lo and behold, yet no remains of it to be found.



















































R.I.P. to such great piece of artwork. Simple yet effective. By this model, I resolved my roof structures and roof height.

Design Attempt #1 - MODEL

The structural model for my first design attempt exhibits an unrealistic view not even worthy of contemplating. Wall to wall distances and open areas are ridiculously spaced far apart. Thus causing deep dark spaces within the structure itself and no natural lighting. Overall, a new design was needed within a wekk to present. So here goes.......

History of Geelong Series 2

Now, the picture series conclude 2 things to me:

1. Geelong was once an important wool trading center and also another important port around the region.
2. Smorgey's WASN'T significant at all, especially not from those older days, so take it down if you wish.

































The last picture is relatively recent in the collection, as it shows Geelong as a whole and there we could see the emergence of Deakin University and later, Deakin Design Institute.
