Small precedent photos

These photos are in some spaces of a mall in Hong Kong. I thought they might be useful cause they look multimedia-ish. But the things I don't like is that screens are everywhere. We face enough screens already at home or at work, why more in public spaces?

New design elevations and sections

Try to play with the heartbeat a little more. Creating a dynamic roof, layers of roof and different heights. Started with some smooth and slick skylines but wasn't very heartbeat like. Then I started to straighten the lines and make them angles.

Older Sketchings

These are the older 2 plans, footprints and the original elevation design.

Levels 2

Items situated in each building

:::...about Reima Pietila and Micheal Sorkin...:::

::: PREDENCE STUDY :::

I have to be honest, I think if Alvar Aalto wasn't around, Reima Pietila should be the ultimate Finnish architect. His design is honest and simply fluid.
After watching Sean Godsell's lecture last Tuesday, I'd say that architecture in that region has certain signatures that represnt the materiality, form and distinctive elements. Although not as ecclectic as Mario Botta, Pietila's approach is more organic. Hmm...more like Wright's organic I suppose...

For further reading, I've put up link to his profile. Check it out.

Next...

Micheal Sorkin's architecture is what we would call Paper architecture. Despite that, his drawings are a true artist cum architect's expression. He does best for Urban Planning and Waterfront design. Oh, he did a proposal for Darling Harbour!
His approach is UNBELIEVEABLE. Its geometrically justified and its scheme relates to the surrounding. Don't believe me? Look out at his website... You'll love his easy-spirited drawings and colours and models.

Zaha Hadid

***Published The Age. Thursday 2nd August, 2007. Front Page

Would be interesting to see what she comes up with for Melbourne. hmmmm? What do you think?

Space Layout

Hey guys, see what you think about the space layout. The spaces still keep in form with fluidity, flow, anticipation, expectation, connection.

Presents a basic outline of soft and hard areas. Needs to be refined more obviously.

Green = Grass
Brown = Semi-hard surface such as fine loose stones
Orange = cobble stones or similar material to slow down cars around the central area/piazza??
Grey = Hard surface. Flows through the aterial system of masterplan.

Base Plan

Sorry upside down guys

Precendence 2

The manipulation of elements to form new elements.

Rough Sketch

Rough plan establishing spaces or potential buildings. In the end, buildings were determined by the arterial spaces around it. Spaces that were formed by the pulse.

Precendence

Precendence of how height may be affected with heart beat.(Above)

Also, similar masterplan(left) found in the works. Presenting a fluid notion throughout design. Fluidity we try to establish within our design aswell.

Abstract Heart Beat

Two streams of pulses were sent loose throughout the proposed site, with the outer containment lines providing a sense of control, enclosure and protection.

The Heartbeat Connection

The heartbeat grows and extends to penetrate the outer skin.

Initial Concept Idea

After completing our site analysis, the notion of active/non-active areas projected in an abstract form established the initial idea for our concept. Hence, the heartbeat was established.
